Scarlet Reserve Room Dispensary Opens in Englishtown

The underground legacy of legal dispensary Scarlet Reserve Room recently held a grand opening in Englishtown, Monmouth County, in central New Jersey.

Republican Mayor Daniel Francisco and the city council were on hand to cut the ribbon and present them with a plaque.

“I know it was a bumpy road before I got to Englishtown,” he noted.

“We are very grateful that you have chosen Englishtown as your home and that we are your neighbor. Thank you for choosing Englishtown. The Council supports you. Good luck!” Franciso exclaimed.

“It’s awesome. It’s been a long journey, but I’m glad we’re open. Glad to have the support of the city,” said Will Rivera, co-owner of the Scarlet Reserve Room. “They actually just named June 29th Scarlet Reserve Day. What we didn’t know is pretty cool.

Francisco’s plaque for the Sacarelt Reserve commemorated Scarelt Reserve Hall Day.

Rivera noted that they first had a softer, quieter opening to work out the kinks.

“Everything went really well,” Rivera said. “I’m just happy to be here.”

The place has a lot of character with a colorful mural with many figures like the Monopoly Man, the scarlet “R” of Rutgers University from which the place takes its name, the Puerto Rican flag and an audio cassette indicating 4/20, the date of the weed festival.

Inside the Scarlet Reserve Room dispensary in Englishtown

Scarlet Reserve Room is poised to become one of the region’s few remaining legacy legal dispensaries while offering a unique selection of craft cannabis products.

“We have been in the black market, in the illegal market. We have gone from the traditional market to the legal market,” Rivera said.

He noted that they have already organized different types of cannabis events.

Notably, Scarlet Reserve Room dispensary struck a deal with fellow legal entrepreneur Usman Khawaja of Sugar Leaves, who began producing bongs.

This could help establish Englishtown as a key destination for premium cannabis products and education.

Selected quality products for sale

Scarlet Reserve Room is committed to elevating the cannabis retail experience, sourcing from leading independent New Jersey growers and manufacturers. This approach not only supports local producers, but also ensures customers have access to unique, high-quality cannabis options.

Rivera added that they have products from major MSOs. However, he said they chose the best for his establishment. Rivera praised some Verano Zen Life flowers that stood out.

“Sometimes they hit,” he noted.

Selection of craft cannabis available

“We are excited to bring our vision of high-quality craft cannabis to Englishtown and be a part of this vibrant community,” Rivera said.

Scarlet Reserve Room dispensary stocks some of the best local independent cannabis brands that are already making waves, like local producers Garden Greens and Prolific Grow House. They also carry products from Lily Extracts, which recently launched gummies, and Sussex Cultivation, which makes cannabis vaping and dabbing products.

“We have a very good selection,” Rivera noted. “We’re not an MSO. We’re here to help the little guys. If there are growers or manufacturers trying to get in, we’re looking for them. Let us know.”

Additionally, Scarlet Reserve Room dispensary offers deals to get more flower and edibles from local independent makers and growers.

Also coming soon are brownie maker ButACake, new producer Full Til Labs, and new legacy legal maker 1804 Farms.

“They’re all small farms, man. That’s what we’re looking for,” Rivera said.

Dispensary listening to the customer

He praised the NJCRC, which granted Scarlet Reserve Room its annual legal cannabis dispensary license needed to open in February 2024.

Scarlet Reserve aims to create a community hub for seasoned cannabis enthusiasts and newcomers alike, providing a welcoming and educational environment. They have friendly staff who are a knowledgeable and welcoming team, ready to help you.

Additionally, Scarlet Reserve Room offers a simple online pre-order process and in-store pickup. Customers can browse their menu online, place orders, and pick them up at their convenience during business hours.

Property context

It is a majority Hispanic-owned business, one of the few in New Jersey.

Rivera was particularly careful about hiring other Latinos and people negatively affected by federal marijuana prohibition.

Like many successful dispensary owners, he’s a serial entrepreneur. His marketing agency recently helped organize the New Jersey Dispensary Awards.

Rivera had already opened CBD stores in South Amboy, Middlesex County, and Matawan, with hopes of turning them into licensed cannabis dispensaries. They also opened a Scarlet Reserve tobacco store in Red Bank, Monmouth County. But city politics and green zone issues over where cannabis businesses are allowed have prevented them from doing so.

In addition to Rivera, the Scarlet Reserve Room dispensary is co-owned by John Marchetti, who was also happy to see them open after the setbacks in Red Bank were very difficult.

Hopefully this will be the start of a larger operation. Wr has the natural ambition of an entrepreneur to expand by having more sites and a delivery service.
