PD: Man arrested plotting murder-for-hire in Luzerne County

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say they caught him planning a murder-for-hire plot in Luzerne County.

According to the Plymouth Borough Police Department, in January, officers began investigating a report from a cooperating witness (CW) regarding a possible contract killing operation carried out by Dashawn Nelson, 29, of Kingston.

According to police, Nelson, known as “Hef,” contacted the CW and offered to pay $5,000 to “shoot another man who resides in Wilkes-Barre.”

Investigators said they learned Nelson had a “conflict” with the victim after CW told officers the victim allegedly “shot up” Nelson’s business in Wilkes-Barre.

CW told officers that on Jan. 7, Nelson called FacTime and offered CW $5,000 to “fix a problem,” the affidavit states.

According to court documents, police began recording several conversations between Nelson, the CWs and an unidentified co-conspirator, where the three discussed the plan to “commit the murder” of the victim.

Nelson was charged with criminal solicitation, criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy involving criminal homicide and other related offenses.

28/22 News has reached out to investigators and is awaiting a response on whether Nelson has been arrested on these charges.
