More than 18 pounds of cocaine laced with fentanyl, ammunition seized during traffic stop on Colorado’s I-70

Law enforcement seized 18 pounds of cocaine laced with fentanyl and hundreds of rounds of ammunition during a traffic stop on I-70 near Gypsum. The Gore Range Narcotics Enforcement Team made the stop around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

During the traffic stop, the GRANITE team observed criminal activity and the driver and passenger consented to a search of the vehicle.

The search uncovered 500 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three gun magazines and four cell phones. They also discovered seven packages weighing more than 18 pounds. Investigators said presumptive testing indicated each package contained cocaine and fentanyl.

The driver and passenger were arrested on suspicion of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. The driver, Pedro David Corral Leon, 22, of Yakima, Washington, remains in custody on $100,000 bail. The passenger, Rafael Zazueta, 19, of Norfolk, Nebraska, remains in custody on $100,000 bail.
