TxDOT Announces Major Improvements to WF Highways

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The Texas Department of Transportation announced that various roads around Wichita Falls will receive improvements over the next month.

$7.5 million in upgrades will go toward construction projects on Old Jacksboro Hwy, FM 2380 and SH 79.

TxDOT announced it would replace the existing asphalt with a new, more durable asphalt. The project began July 1 with milling of the existing pavement.

The scope of improvement works on these highways includes work on:

  • SL 473 from E Scott Ave to US 281
  • FM 2380 from Southwest Pkwy to SH 79
  • SH 79 from near Professional Dr to FM 1954

The project is expected to last approximately 3 months, with several lane closures throughout the project.

Flaggers will direct traffic near intersections and when roads are reduced to one lane.

TxDOT said motorists should use extreme caution when traveling through work zones, including when construction crews are away from the site.
