Jonathan Marchessault: The Golden Knights offered him the same amount as the Predators

Jonathan Marchessault surprised many people by signing with the Nashville Predators. There was clearly a disconnect between him and the Golden Knights, but his destination was nothing short of nebulous.

In recent days, we learned that he came close to signing with the Tricolore, making Sainte-Flanelle a finalist for his services.

Marchessault has now revealed that he received an offer from Vegas for the same amount of money he accepted in Nashville.

There was one big difference, though: his contract had a lot of money at the end rather than at the beginning, which he didn’t like.

However, I don’t think it was a money issue in his case. There seemed to be a huge gap between him and the Knights organization. Even before the season ended, the experts were agreeing that he wouldn’t be back.

If he had felt more appreciated, I’m sure he would have found a way to help the team fit his contract into the payroll. That’s clearly why Vegas wanted to offer him a contract that was out of the ordinary.

Another clue that the Knights weren’t even on Marchessault’s radar was when he spoke to the media and named the Canadiens as finalists.

We now know that the Tricolore did not want a 4 or 5 year contract for him. Despite everything, he came very close to playing in Montreal.

On the other hand, it is a great opportunity for Marchessault who, alongside Steven Stamkos, will be able to fight for another Stanley Cup.

Nashville has given itself the means to not only qualify for the playoffs, but also to stay up late in the spring waltz.

Over time

– Great honor for Vlad.

– His first skate.

– CF Montreal takes off.
