Tourists shocked by death of teacher who jumped into Iguazu Falls

A woman jumped to her death at Iguazu Falls in Argentina, in front of hundreds of horrified tourists.

Some spectators shouted to try to stop Monica Heck, 37, from making the 300-foot jump, but to no avail.

A video posted on YouTube, taken by a tourist, shows her climbing a railing, standing on a rock and dropping into the waterfall.

El Litoral Concordia reports that the body of Ms Heck, originally from Puerto Esperanza in Argentina, was later found floating in the water.

Ms. Heck was a teacher who was believed to be terminally ill. She had posted several messages on Facebook about her depression.

Iguazu Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world and was named one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature in 2011.
