Silent Night: Neighbors of Harrisburg Family Dollar Confirm Nighttime False Alarms Have Stopped

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The company promised to fix the problem. Then it sent in contractors to do it.

But the big question after the false alarms kept neighbors at the Family Dollar at 18th and Derry streets awake night after night for months: Would the alarms finally stop this time?

The answer: yes. Residents were optimistic Wednesday when they saw contractors working to fix the alarm, but they remained skeptical because of how long the problem had been going on. But it was indeed a quiet night.

“The noise wasn’t coming from the alarm last night, and I think you’re behind it,” Mohamed Kharabiesh, one of the neighbors who first contacted abc27 about the problem, told an abc27 News crew on Thursday.

Family Dollar apologized to neighbors earlier this week for the alarms and the duration of the problem.
