Caught On Cam: Thieves High-Five, Hug Each Other After Robbing Jewellery Store

A group of robbers took all the inventory and looted two safes of a family-run jewelry store in West Hollywood, USA. What made the robbery even more devastating was that the robbers took their time in stealing. They made two trips to the store, first in the early morning hours and another one late at night between June 17 and June 18. The store remains closed on Sunday and Monday. Despite installing a “state of the art” security system, owner Robert Goukasian claims they were not alerted to the break-in.

On June 18, when Robert Goukasian entered his shop, he found it completely damaged. He made a video of the damage incurred and posted it on Instagram. He captioned it, “Our family jewelry store of over 40 years in West Hollywood has been robbed. All gone.” In a comment he wrote, “I took this video as soon as I walked in. The alarm system never triggered despite the fact that many sensors were installed.”

An Instagram user wrote, “Bro either you got robbed by Oceans Eleven or this was an inside job!” Expressing a similar opinion someone else wrote, “They knew exactly what kind of safes those were and how to tackle them. Check your circle. ” Another person wrote, “The problem with wireless security systems is that they can be knocked out with a 10 dollar Wi-Fi jammer, rendering them totally useless.”

Ten days later, Robert Goukasian shared the CCTV that shows four robbers breaking into a safe and celebrating. They gave each other a high-five and even hugged each other. Interestingly one robber’s face was visible as he did not wear any mask.

In the comments, many people wondered why the robbers did not damage the security cameras and rob the store at a relatively slow pace. This prompted many people to speculate that the theft was an “insider job”.

In response to these comments, Robert Goukasian wrote, “Guys, this is not an inside job. We have no employees at all. Our store is run solely by us. He’s my father and mother.”

He once again slammed the security company and wrote, “The alarms never went off despite the fact that we had a “state of the art” alarm system with multiple sensors including seismic sensors on the safes. The alarm company “Johnson Controls” referred us to their legal department and declined a statement. We pay hundreds of dollars a month for our security system.”

As per ABC7 News, detectives are investigating the theft. Robert Goukasian told ABC7 News that even though they lost “everything” that was in the store, they are determined to restart the business.
