Hard Knocks masterfully shows a Giants mistake that the Eagles took advantage of

With each passing year, the nearly 100-year feud between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants continues to rage. More often than not, the Birds have taken their Gotham rivals by storm, but that hasn’t stopped fans of these two proud franchises from trading verbal jabs. Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni has even gotten in on the insults. Wouldn’t you know? Eagles legends have, too.

But Philly has dominated Big Blue on the field. Since 2008, the Eagles have won 22 of the last 29 meetings, and now it looks like they’re kicking the G-Men’s butts off the field.

Who would have thought we’d have Hard Knocks to thank for captivating visuals.

Hard Knocks has taken a beating. The training camp version has become predictable. Most teams don’t want HBO cameras. There’s now an in-season version and another that follows the off-season activities.

The latter debuted on July 2nd. We thought we’d be bored to death seeing the New York Giants featured, but if the first episode is any indication of what to expect, we’re in for a fireworks show. Maybe you’ve heard. The first episode of Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants I brought forward the July 4th holiday a little early.

It was Giants general manager Joe Schoen and his staff who miscalculated the value of Saquon Barkley and the lengths other NFL teams would go to get him. You may have heard about it. Philly, once again one of the Giants’ biggest rivals, acquired him on March 13 and gave him a three-year deal. That adds fuel to a few fires. Here are three you may have seen burning if you were paying attention.

First, Giants fans blamed the wrong person for Saquon’s departure. They’re burning the former Penn State star’s jersey even though Joe Schoen, New York’s general manager since 2022, is largely responsible for the two-time Pro Bowler’s departure.

Second, there have been rumors, often whispered, that Howie Roseman continues to receive praise he doesn’t deserve. Nothing could be further from the truth. Ask another new NFC East GM, Adam Peters. He recently saw Howie’s acuity firsthand on draft day.

Third, and this is where we will leave it, Saquon Barkley’s revenge tour is one we will witness. As is always the case, the Birds will face the Giants twice this season. The dates are October 20 at 1:00 PM EST (Week 7) and Week 18. The time of the latter game has not yet been determined.
