John Cena Announces WWE Retirement, Farewell Tour in 2025

John Cena Announces WWE Retirement, Farewell Tour in 2025

SINCE THE DAY JOHN CENA entered WWE as the Doctor of Thuganomics, fans have fallen in love with him because he resonated well as a face who enjoys trashing his opponents with his insane rap skills.

And even when the Doctor disappeared in favor of a more PG-oriented character, Cena was still an influential figure in professional wrestling.

But with John Cena set to take part in Money In The Bank 2024, it seems like the time has come for him to make one of the most surprising announcements yet.

“Tonight I officially announce my retirement from WWE,” Cena told the Canadian crowd.

Upon hearing the announcement, the crowd was left stunned. Cena then explained what made Canada a special place for him to announce his retirement and highlighted why Money In The Bank 2024 was the perfect atmosphere to say goodbye.

He then cited the pay-per-views that will be his last.

“It’s not going to end at WrestleMania, WrestleMania will be my last WrestleMania, but hopefully if everything goes according to plan we’ll go straight from January to December,” Cena said at a press conference.

“We’re going to try to do a long list of dates. I think right now it’s tentatively somewhere between 30 and 40, because I’m still going to try to juggle a lot of things that are going on. and that will be the end of my competition in the ring.”

Yet despite his lack of in-ring moves, Cena believes WWE will forever remain in his heart.

“Part of the business plan that I’m proposing is that I remain part of the WWE family in some capacity for an extended period of time. I’ve always told the public that WWE is my home and I love it.”

The 16-time world champion added: “And just because I physically feel like I’m at the end, it doesn’t mean I have to distance myself from something that I love.”

During his work sessions, Cena would watch and study the matches that were taking place and learning from them could help him understand his new role within the organization.

“I have a passion for this business, I always watch Money In The Bank and I yell at guys and I scream at them for what they’re doing or what they could be doing, so I feel like I have some wisdom locked away in there that could be of some value,” Cena mused.

“So I look forward to ending my in-ring involvement in the best way possible and being a member of the extended WWE family for a while.”

Throughout his career, Cena was considered one of the best professional wrestlers on the scene. His immense physical strength (he even lifted weights like Big Show) and his creative talents on the microphone were his greatest assets in the industry.
