Samsung Galaxy AI Could Soon Offer Real-Time Translations on WhatsApp

Live Translate is part of Samsung’s suite of Galaxy AI features that offer real-time translation between languages, and is expected to expand to third-party apps in the near future – with WhatsApp set to be one of the first apps to benefit.

According to a reliable informant @UniverseIce (via Neowin), WhatsApp integration is in the works, but no timeline has been given. Samsung has already said that other apps will benefit from Live Translate, without specifying which apps.

It remains to be seen how this feature will work, but on compatible Samsung phones it’s already built into the default messaging app and works on phone calls as well. There’s also a standalone interpreter tool for instant audio translations.

According to SamMobile, the integration could also extend to audio calls in WhatsApp, so you’ll be able to get translations between languages while you’re talking to someone else, as well as convert your text messages.

Samsung certainly won’t want to be left behind in terms of AI, and giving third-party apps the ability to access some AI magic could be one way to do that – so over to you Apple and Google.
