The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a statement regarding the CUET-UG exam, saying: “The NTA is also responding to public grievances regarding the CUET-UG examination that were received till June 30. If any grievance is found to be valid, the NTA is committed to re-conducting the examination for such candidates at selected centres on any day between July 15 and 19.”

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the results of the NEET UG 2024 make-up test, revealing a decline in the number of candidates who scored perfect marks. Of the 813 candidates who sat for the make-up test on June 23, which was originally 1,563, the number of candidates who scored the highest marks has come down from 67 to 61. The adjustment follows the disqualification of six candidates whose marks had initially reached a perfect score of 720/720 due to grace marks awarded for wasted examination time. Despite not scoring perfect marks in the make-up test, these candidates have maintained impressive scores above 680.

The Supreme Court has sought clarification from the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding the timeline for disposal of OMR paper grievances in the NEET UG 2024 exam. A bench comprising Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti issued the notice in response to a petition filed by coaching institution Xylem Learning Private Limited and several NEET aspirants.

Senior advocate R Basant, appearing for the petitioners, highlighted concerns that many students have not received their OMR sheets and raised issues of discrepancies between the calculations in the OMR sheets and those indicated in the answer key. “Several students are aggrieved,” Basant said during the proceedings.

A fresh appeal has been filed by 56 students seeking to restrain the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) from cancelling the controversial NEET UG exam.

In its submission to the Supreme Court, the NTA said: “Cancellation of the entire examination on the basis of the above factor would be extremely counterproductive and significantly prejudicial to public interest, particularly the career prospects of qualified candidates.”

The counselling schedule for NEET UG and PG is announced by the MCC on its website based on the completion of the examination process and finalisation of the seat matrix by the National Medical Commission (NMC). In the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, the counselling for UG seats has started on 19 January 2022, 11 October 2022 and 20 July 2023, respectively.

“For the year 2024, the NMC has notified its schedule for finalisation of seat matrix for UG and PG seats in the last week of June, stating that it will finalise the UG seat matrix by the third week of July and the PG seat matrix by mid-August. The MCC will notify the counselling schedule accordingly,” an official MCC notification said.
