Father of fallen soldier breaks down in tears after hearing son’s last message before he died

Many soldiers know that they are at risk of dying on the battlefield. They also know that it would be difficult for their families back home to grieve their immense sacrifice for the nation. With this in mind, one soldier recorded a final message for his father, hoping to offer him some form of comfort in case something were to happen to him. A video of the father listening to the late soldier’s final message was shared on TikTok by @fearbuck0 and brought tears to the eyes of viewers.

The father is visibly moved as the voice recording begins: “Hey Dad, if you are hearing this message, it means I couldn’t come back. My job as a soldier has required the greatest sacrifice.” The father, who had been holding back until now, burst into tears upon hearing his son’s voice. “I am sending this message in the hope that it can bring you some comfort, some understanding, despite the pain that weighs on your heart,” the soldier said. He admitted that there was something he wanted to share that he kept forgetting. “Dad, I love you,” the man said.

“I never said it enough while I had the chance,” the soldier said in his message as the grieving father continued to wipe away tears. “But it’s something that has always resonated in my heart.” He also recalled fond memories he had shared with his father. “I remember how we used to camp in the backyard,” the son recalled. “Back then, I was barely taller than the tent.” The fallen soldier then recalled a poignant thing his father had once remarked to him. “You used to show me the stars. You used to tell me there were brave soldiers from a faraway world who were always shining down on us.” The emotional father nodded in response to the message.

“It was those nights that shaped my dream to serve our beloved country,” the son said, adding that he hoped his message would bring strength to his father. “Know this: If I could have, I would have fought 100 more battles just to get home to you. But unfortunately, life sometimes has plans,” the son told his heartbroken father. “So please, Dad, don’t mourn me, celebrate me.” The man emphasized, “I have lived a life of honor. I have braved challenges and I have been blessed to love you. You are my hero and if I am remembered as half the man you are, then my life will have been a resounding success.” The soldier finished, but not before saying, “Once again and forever, I love you.”
