Love Island shock as star quits

Love Island has been rocked by a walking-out – with one star leaving the show after their other half got the axe in a shock dumping, it has been revealed.

The Islanders decided that they would pack their bags and follow their partner off the series in a move that has left many stunned, The Sun reported today.

Even battle-hardened producers working on the ITV hit are thought to have been surprised by the turn of events.

As viewers will know, very few Love Island stars are loyal enough to quit the show when their other halves get the boot, frequently staying on and coupling up with other people.

The exit has not yet aired and the person who’s leaving is not being named, though the action will play out on screens when the show returns to ITV2 and ITVX.

A source told the newspaper: “The villa is so full that people are sleeping on the day beds. So producers decided it was a good idea to trim the fat and called another dumping soon after Movie Night.

“What they were not expecting was the partner of the axed individual wanting to leave.”

Love Island has seen a handful of people leaving the show unexpectedly and heading home over the 11 series it’s been on air.

They include Jacques O’Neill, who left after his romance with Paige Thorne ended, Jake Cornish, who said goodbye after three days when viewers paired him with his ex Liberty Poole, and Georgia Steel, who parted ways with Sam Bird.

And of course, there have been no end of departures from the villa this summer, with producers keeping a steady stream of dumpings and hot new arrivals to keep viewers guessing.

Most recently, the show lost Trey Norman and Ellie Jackson, who left the Majorca villa during Sunday night’s dramatic episode.

Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX tonight at 9pm.
