Jaylen Brown Posts Cryptic Message After Being Snubbed By Olympic Team

BOSTON — Given that Jaylen Brown is coming off a dominant playoff run that helped the Celtics win an NBA championship, he was a logical choice to replace Kawhi Leonard on Team USA’s roster for this summer’s Paris Olympics.

Unfortunately, Brown was snubbed again, as Team USA chose to play his Boston teammate, Derrick White. Adding fuel to Brown’s fire.

While White certainly deserves a spot on Team USA thanks to an incredibly strong 2023-24 season and his all-around game, many basketball fans are wondering why Brown didn’t get the call. Apparently, Brown is wondering the same thing based on a cryptic (but not so cryptic) message to X shortly after the USMNT made the announcement.

While Brown is probably happy for White, he’s probably wondering what else he needs to do to have a shot at Olympic gold. He was one of the 28 players Team USA used to make its roster, but he failed to make the 12-man roster despite his impressive performances throughout Boston’s title run and his Eastern Conference and NBA Finals MVP honors. It was understandable, given the absurd amount of talent selected for the team.

But once Leonard was gone, Brown was an easy and logical replacement to take his place. They are both wingers and excellent defenders.

White is a great all-around defender himself, and a player who doesn’t need the ball to make an impact on offense. He’s a good choice to replace Leonard. But Brown is coming off his best basketball career and has every reason to feel aggrieved.

Snubs have always been a source of discontent for the three-time All-Star. We saw it after his explosiveness in the playoffs after being snubbed by an All-NBA. Now, Brown has a major grudge heading into next season, as he and the Celtics look to repeat as NBA champions.
