KOREATOWN, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A man has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after police say he was caught on camera dropping a 7-month-old dog down the stairwell of a Koreatown apartment.

Joeboury Coleman, 27, of Los Angeles, was arrested Sunday and is being held without bail, according to the LAPD.

A video posted on social media shows a man grabbing a dog by the collar and then dropping it down the stairwell.

Officers responded to the 4000 block of Oakwood Avenue around 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a man abusing a dog.

“Concerned citizens have come forward with information about videos posted on social media showing a dog being mistreated at the scene, including being punched and thrown down a multi-story staircase by a man,” the LAPD said in a news release.

A man who appeared in the videos was arrested in an alley behind the building, police said.

(Officers) “Officers followed up to the individual’s apartment and located the dog shown in the social media video being beaten and thrown down the stairs,” police said.

The 7-month-old dog was taken to an animal shelter and is being treated for a broken hind leg, which may require surgery. Police said the dog is also suffering from malnutrition.

Anyone with information about the alleged abuse is asked to contact detectives at (213) 484-3490.
