Hayes, Huskies ready to lead Ohio | News, Sports, Jobs

WHEELING — Anthony Hayes and his Harrison Central squad will lead the Ohio All Stars into Saturday night’s clash with West Virginia in the 78th annual OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Football Tournament at Wheeling Island.

The Huskies finished 9-3 and advanced to the second round of the OHSAA Division V, Region 17 playoffs before losing.

ANTHONY HAYES

A 1996 graduate of Cadiz High School, Hayes has been coaching football for 21 years, including the last six as the Huskies’ head coach. He also has had stints at Green and Cadiz high schools.

For his team’s accomplishments last fall, Hayes was voted the Eastern District Coach of the Year in Division V. He has a career record of 31-28.

Hayes and his wife, Megan, have two daughters, Kendall (12) and Kinsey (10). They reside in Cadiz.

BILL BRYANT

A graduate of Heidelberg College, Bryant is also the Huskies’ head wrestling coach, in his 23rd year of coaching.

Bryant graduated from Cadiz High School and also coached track and field.

Bryant and his wife, Angela, have three children: Cael, Aubrey and Brasen. They reside in Dennison.

TY KENNY

A former three-sport star for the Huskies, Kenney played football, basketball and ran track during his high school years.

He has been coaching football for 14 years, eight of them at his alma mater.

Kenney is the seventh-grade boys basketball coach and head girls track and field coach at Harrison Central.

Kenney and his wife, Kara, have one daughter, Alivia. They reside in Cadiz.

DAVID NAMETH

The Cadiz High School graduate was selected to play in the 1992 OVAC Rudy Mumley Game, however, the game was rained out.

He coached the Huskies football team for the past five years and also helped with the wrestling program.

He resides in Cadiz with his girlfriend, Emily Coultrap. Nameth has three daughters: Shianne, Shaniel and Shayla.

ROGER HERBERT

A graduate of Union Local High School, Herbert was an assistant coach for the Jets and also served as the head coach of the UL softball program. He then served as the head football coach at Buckeye Local for four years and the head baseball coach for one year. He also assisted with the Panthers wrestling program.

He has 21 years of experience as a football coach, including 17 as an assistant. He has been with the Huskies for two seasons.

Herbert and his wife, Melanie, have two sons: Lane (21) and Trevor (19). They reside in Dillonvale.

CAIN NOBLE

He is also a graduate of Buckeye Local and has 20 years of experience as a football coach, including 13 at Harrison Central. His other stops include Buckeye Local and Edison.

A graduate of Fairmont State University, Noble also coached a baseball team.

He and his wife, Caitlin, have two children: Jackson (8) and Jordyn (4). They reside in Yorkville.

DREW CASE

A graduate of Cadiz High School, Case coached football for the Huskies for three of his six seasons. He also coached for three years at Cadiz.

A graduate of Ohio University, he is also an assistant wrestling coach and has coached baseball and softball in the past.

He and his wife, Corisa, have two daughters, Camryn and Kenna. They reside in Adena.

MARK SMITH

The former Cadiz Cardinal played in the 1994 OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Classic and has been coaching the Huskies for six years.

He served in the U.S. Army for six and a half years and also attended the EGCC Police Academy.

He and his wife, Christina, have three sons: Mark, Matthew and Michael. They reside in Cadiz.

AJ BARSCH

A graduate of Buckeye Local where he coached for two years, Barsch has been with Harrison Central for eight seasons.

He played three sports (football, basketball and baseball) at Buckeye Local. He was a member of the coaching staff for Harrison Central’s baseball team that advanced to the Division II state finals in 2023.

He resides in Cadiz.

IAN WHITE

A graduate of Harrison Central, White coached the Huskies for six seasons. He also coached baseball and basketball.

He played three sports for the Huskies (football, basketball and baseball).

He and his fiancée, Hannah Mattern, reside in Cadiz. He also has a daughter, Caelyn White (9).
