Today, we spoke to Madhubanti Bakshi, a talented singer known for her melodious voice and versatility. Let’s dive into her musical journey, inspirations and her views on the industry.

Q: Could you tell us a little about your background in music and what inspired you to become a singer?

A: I have always loved music since I was a child, but becoming a singer was not an initial ambition. Music has been a big part of my life because of my family’s appreciation and exposure to it. Eventually, I had to choose between studies and music, and I chose music.

Q: What were you studying?

A: I have a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Tech) and a Master of Science in Laser Science (M.Tech).

Q: What artists or genres have influenced your musical style?

A: I am influenced by classical artists like Ustad Bade Gulamani Khan Sahib and Begum Akhtar, as well as pop and metal music. Bands like Meshuggah and Textures, and artists like Steven Wilson and David Bowie have also influenced me deeply.

Q: Can you explain your creative process when composing and recording a song?

A: My process varies. Sometimes I create a melody on guitar or a loop, and sometimes I compose from pre-written lyrics. I avoid monotony by keeping the process fresh and engaging.

Q: How do you manage to avoid monotony in your music?

A: When I feel monotonous, I take a break from my creation and focus on listening to other music. It helps me regain enthusiasm and inspiration.

Q: What are some of the challenges you face in the music industry and how did you overcome them?

A: Many artists are unaware of their rights, especially when it comes to royalties and publishing. I think it is essential for artists to educate themselves on these issues, especially in the digital age.

Q: Do you have a favorite song or project you’ve worked on? What makes it special to you?

A: My favorite project is an upcoming EP featuring Rajasthani songs. It’s unique and exciting, combining energetic music with Rajasthani lyrics.

Q: How did you become interested in Rajasthani music?

A: Lyricist Avinash Chauhan from Jodhpur inspired me. He shared stories and pictures of Rajasthan, which led us to incorporate Rajasthani lyrics into my music, creating a vibrant and fun EP.

Q: What are your future aspirations and plans?

A: I am currently working on several exciting collaborations and projects. I want to push the boundaries of my music, mixing creativity and new opportunities.

Q: What do you think about your fans and is there a message you would like to share with them?

Q: How do you see the current state of the music industry, especially in terms of opportunities for new artists?

A: The industry is booming thanks to the opportunities offered by social media and digital platforms. It is now easier for new artists to reach audiences and experiment with their music.

Q: Outside of music, what are your passions or hobbies and how do they influence your music?

A: I love to travel, especially to jungles and hills. This connection with nature influences my music by bringing me new perspectives and inspiration.
