Big Sean Says Kendrick Lamar Has Apologized For Leaking Dissident Remarks On “ELEMENT.”

Big Sean says Kendrick Lamar privately apologized to him for his “ELEMENT” leak.

During an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, the Detroit rapper answered a question about a 2019 leak of a demo of “ELEMENT.” The track appeared on Lamar’s 2017 album “DAMN.”

Although the following lines were edited in the final version, the 2019 leak revealed that Lamar had insulted Big Sean: “Big Sean keeps talking down to me, I let him slide / I think his fake confidence inspired him / I can’t get ’em to respect you, baby, that’s not my job / You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme.” (At the time, Sean was dating R&B singer Jhené Aiko).

Sean said he and Lamar resolved their feud years ago, telling Charlamagne: “The thing is, this song came out and he changed that beat, right? So it wasn’t on the song anymore, it was a verse that leaked.

“So I had to keep that in mind because I was furious when I heard it. So I was like, ‘OK, he changed that on his own, so he probably came to the conclusion that it was nothing. So he and I talked. And I got the texts on my phone.”

Sean added that Lamar “kind of apologized for going that far, for that shit that got leaked,” continuing: “When that shit leaked, people be like, ‘Ah, did you hear what he said about you?’ I’m like, ‘N****, I’m not some clout-chasing n****, man. I’m solid and I stand by my beliefs and I’m not about to do something because everybody thinks a certain way. We talked about it before, I got apologies for it before… That’s how it went. I haven’t really had much communication with him since then.”

NME In 2017, Kendrick Lamar previously reviewed DAMN, writing: “Faith, pussy, and politics—Kendrick Lamar’s mind is a restless, action-packed place. The triumphant Compton MC may have pared down the track count on his fourth studio album—DAMN is by far his shortest release to date—but the ideas, thoughts, and feelings it contains are massive, heavy stuff, from sexual tension to deep, dark depression.”

“The eternal battle between good and evil also jostles for attention, with some rap hits making waves just because they can. ‘DAMN.’ shows Lamar as simultaneously witty, tormented, confused and self-absorbed. Being Kendrick Lamar, you can imagine, must be exhausting.”

In other news, Big Sean has responded to rumors that Kanye West leaked his album.
