What would you do if your future mother-in-law constantly disrespected you?

Well, this bride-to-be decided enough was enough.

After being subjected to indirect comments and unsolicited opinions from her fiancé’s mother, she had to lay down the law.

Take a look at this wild story!

Okay, so I (26F) met my fiancé (28M) in high school.

Since he introduced me to his parents, his father loves me but his mother is not a fan of me.

I tried to get along with her, but she really has nothing to do with me.

One day we were at my fiance’s parents’ house for dinner to celebrate our engagement, his mother was not very happy (as I expected).

As I put food on my plate, she told me not to eat too much as I had to work on losing weight before marriage.

Well, that’s not a good start.

I do a lot of sports, like jogging and going to the gym. I’m not skinny at all, but just her saying that made me feel really insecure.

Recently I went shopping for a wedding dress and I didn’t really want to take her with me, but she insisted. So I decided to be nice and let her come with me.

I tried on a bunch of dresses and she hated none of them.

I finally tried on a dress that I fell in love with but she told me it was the ugliest one yet, I decided to go with this dress because I loved it, she told me no man would ever want to marry me if I wore this dress.

Wow. Excuse me?

I told her that since it wasn’t her wedding I could choose whatever dress I wanted and after that she got really mad at me and stormed out of the building.

Right after I got home from shopping for my wedding dress she decided to call my fiancé, she was literally screaming down the phone telling him to end our engagement to me.

I was so angry with her that I had to go into the other room before telling her to stop.

It keeps getting worse.

A few hours later I decided I had had enough and was going to tell him how it was.

I sent him a message saying, “If you continue to be rude to me, I don’t want you at my wedding. You are more than welcome if you can be kind and respectful.”

Yes I know it’s his son’s wedding too but I don’t want to be disrespected at my own wedding, my fiance thinks I’m exaggerating but I’m not.

What is this ?

Damn. Weddings are supposed to be about love and unity, not about dodging insults from your future mother-in-law.

What did Reddit think? Are people giving her a standing ovation or calling her the runaway bride?

This person says that it is the groom-to-be who is the problem.

And she says this will continue to happen if her future husband doesn’t take a stand.

Looks like this mother-in-law (and her son) are the ones causing the drama.

Looks like someone might not be getting a slice of wedding cake after all.
