On Wednesday, they beat J-League team Urawa Reds 4-1 in Saitama.

They then suffered a surprising 2-0 defeat to Yokohama F. Marinos earlier in the day.

Besides the friendly matches, Newcastle organise other events for their local fans.

Among these, a question and answer session with club icon Shola Ameobi.

During the event, the Shields Gazette interviewed several attendees.

One fan, named Ucha, revealed he started supporting the Toons after seeing former boss Alan Pardew headbutt David Meyler during a match against Hull City in 2014.

The infamous incident occurred during a 4-1 Newcastle win and saw Pardew fined £100,000.

Explaining his fandom, Ucha said: “About 10 years ago I watched a game against Hull City.
