5-Star Defender Trey McNutt Announces College Commitment

5-Star Defender Trey McNutt Announces College Commitment

The Oregon Ducks are back on the recruiting trail, landing a massive commitment in the 2025 class on Saturday morning.

5-star safety Trey McNutt has announced his commitment to Oregon, choosing the Ducks over teams like Texas A&M, Ohio State, USC and Florida. McNutt was originally scheduled to announce his commitment on July 19, but he was forced to postpone the announcement for a few weeks.

McNutt is ranked as the No. 19 overall player in the 2025 class and the No. 1 safety in the country. He is now the third 5-star to join Oregon’s class this cycle, joining 5-star WR Dakorien Moore and 5-star WR Dallas Wilson.

McNutt is also the first safety to commit to Oregon this cycle, though there is hope Oregon could still land 5-star S Jonah Williams later this month as well.

It could be a banner day for Oregon recruiting wise, as the Ducks are also waiting to hear from 2026 QB Jonas Williams, who is also expected to commit at some point today. Williams, the No. 8 QB in the 2026 class, is currently projected to land with the Ducks.
