Fans React to Photo of Kehlani and Her ‘Twin’ Chris Brown

Fans have shared their thoughts on Kehlani posing for a photo with her “twin” Chris Brown, despite her previous comments about the singer.

Brown recently posted a selfie of himself and the California native together on his Instagram Stories. The caption for the image was short, with the Virginia star simply writing “Twin” with a heart emoji.

Brown and Kehlani’s reunion has confused the latter’s fans after an X/Twitter exchange the two had in 2016.

At the time, Kehlani shared a photo of them in the hospital on her Instagram along with a message explaining how they had attempted suicide.

Many believed the incident was related to her public breakup with NBA player Kyrie Irving. While the two were supposedly dating, PartyNextDoor posted a photo of him and Kehlani β€” hinting that the latter was cheating on Irving with him. Kehlani was bullied online after PND exposed the photo.

The “Did I” star denied cheating on Irving with the OVO singer at the time, writing, “No I’m not a CHEATER (or) a THOT. I believe in following your heart and not lying to yourself. Translation: I was with PND. We broke up. I dated Kyrie. We realized it wasn’t working. I got back with PND.”

Brown responded to the news on social media, saying, “There is no suicide attempt. Stop bragging for Instagram. Do stupid things to get sympathy so the comments under your pictures don’t look so bad!”

He continued, “I’m gonna be the biggest piece of (shit emoji). But I’m gonna ride for my homies no matter what. KYRIE is probably one of the last good dudes left. I don’t care!”

After sending those tweets, Brown was chastised online and criticized for being insensitive to Kehlani’s situation. Eight years later, many of his fans feel the same way.

In a quote tweet, a fan reposted Brown’s tweets and asked, “You notice Kehlani tried to end her life and this is what he had to say to that bitch, honestly?”

Another brought up how they removed Tory Lanez from their 2020 collaboration β€œCan I” after the July 2020 incident where he was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, β€œbut now they all got close to Cocaine Fisticuffs Brown?”

β€œKehlani was like, β€˜Use your platform! Speak out against injustice!’ and then befriended one of the most notorious domestic terrorists of all time…” another X/Twitter user said.

Some fans, however, defended Kehlani and Brown. One wrote, “Kehlani and Chris Brown have been going strong for a while, (and) y’all are shocked because you think social media is a reflection of real life.”

Another said the 29-year-old was “another person who has moved on, but you’re still angry with her.”

The controversy comes two months after the release of Kehlani’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Crash, in June. The album features lyrics by Jill Scott, Omah Lay and Young Miko.

She will also embark on her own North American tour next month, the first leg of her “Crash World Tour.” British R&B group FLO and rising rapper Anycia will be her opening acts.

The tour will kick off on September 4th in Minneapolis, Mississippi, before heading to major cities like Toronto, Brooklyn, Miami, Dallas, San Diego and more. The tour is set to wrap up in November in his hometown of San Francisco. You can find all available tickets here.
