5 people convicted in 2021 execution-style murder in Gresham

GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) – Five people have been convicted for their roles in the 2021 murder of a 34-year-old Gresham man.

Cesar Estrada Nava, Kassandra Kitchens, D’Sean Baker, CJ Wobbe and Andrew Bushnell were convicted this month in connection with the death of Andrew Sherrell.

Sherrell, of Bend, was found dead near Northeast 189th Avenue and Northeast Portal Way in Gresham on the evening of September 24, 2021. He was found without shoes, a wallet, a phone, no identification and with broken zip ties near his arms and hands.

Police said the manner in which Sherrell was found and his injuries indicated he had been executed.

In recent months, the Louisa Flowers Apartments in the Lloyd neighborhood have received a lot of negative attention.

During a months-long investigation, investigators determined that Sherrell was a small-time drug dealer who was not paying for drugs given to him by his dealer, identified by police as Estrada Nava. Police said Estrada Nava also had a large drug debt to his own dealer.

Police say Estrada Nava, along with Kitchens, Baker, Wobbe and Bushnell, hatched a plan to kill Sherrell.

On the day of his murder, Sherrell drove from the Bend area to Portland’s Lloyd neighborhood and met Kitchens, who was romantically involved with him. According to police, Kitchens lured him to a parking lot with a discounted fentanyl offer, then drove him to a location where the other four suspects were waiting.

Sherrell was assaulted by Bushnell and Baker before being forced into the back of an SUV where Estrada Nava was waiting. According to police, Kitchens then drove Estrada Nava and Sherrell to a second location in the Lloyd District to switch drivers.

Wobbe, Baker and Estrada Nava drove Sherrell to the industrial area at NE 189th Avenue and NE Portal Way. Police say Sherrell was forced out of the SUV by Baker and Estrada Nava, placed on his knees and carried to the sidewalk.

Police say Bushnell and Kitchens were not present when Sherrell was killed.
