Couple sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping, rape, murder and robbery of Lambada woman

The Rangareddy district court sentenced a couple to life imprisonment (RI) for kidnapping, rape, murder and robbery of a Lambada woman in July 2021.

On July 25, 2021, Kuruva Swamy and Masanamolla Narsamma abducted a labourer’s wife from Mallampet village. The accused took Bhamini to an isolated place, where she was subjected to brutal sexual assault before being murdered. The perpetrators then robbed her of her jewellery.

Following the complaint filed by the victim’s son, the police identified the accused through CCTV footage. The charges against them include kidnapping, rape, murder, robbery and violations of the South Carolina and South Carolina Atrocities Prevention Act.

On September 13, 2024, the court convicted Kuruva Swamy and Masanamolla Narsamma and sentenced them to life imprisonment and a fine of ₹300 each.
