Kevin “KD” Dunn Announces Candidacy for Pleasant Grove Mayor

Kevin “KD” Dunn has officially launched his campaign for mayor of Pleasant Grove, aiming to make history by becoming the city’s first black mayor.

Dunn, a well-known community leader, was elected to the Pleasant Grove City Council in 2020 and is a strong advocate for residents. During his time on council, he organized the Pleasant Grove Fall Festival, secured funding for city parks, increased transparency in government processes, organized neighborhood cleanups, and developed programs to support the city’s youth.

Dunn has worked in law enforcement for 18 years, which demonstrates his commitment to public safety and community service. As an entrepreneur, he owns several small businesses that contribute to the local economy. Dunn also founded Ties 2 Success, a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring young men, highlighting his dedication to youth development.

Dunn holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Alabama and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. “His academic background provides him with a deep understanding of human behavior and effective governance,” his campaign said.

In addition to his professional and civic accomplishments, Dunn is a dedicated family man, husband and father of three, reflecting his commitment to the future of Pleasant Grove families.

“Running for mayor is not just about seeking office; it’s about making positive change and representing all the voices in our community,” Dunn said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Pleasant Grove toward a future that embraces diversity, fosters economic growth and prioritizes the needs of every resident.”

Dunn’s campaign “promises a vision of unity, progress and inclusiveness, aimed at building a stronger, more vibrant Pleasant Grove for all its residents.”
