Inmate Caught Crawling In Front Of Guard To ‘Rape’ Female Inmate: Video

An inmate at an Arizona prison was caught on camera crawling past a security guard to get to the women’s side of the facility — where he later confessed he planned to “rape” a female inmate, court documents show.

Justin Avery, 29, was in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting five women near Arizona State University’s Tempe campus when surveillance caught him sneaking up on an unconscious guard at 4 a.m., according to footage obtained by ABC15.

Avery, dressed in a bright orange prison jumpsuit, was seen dropping to the ground and moving on his buttocks to move from the busy men’s side of the Maricopa County reception center to the much quieter women’s side, the outlet reported.

He later admitted he “slithered like a spider” because he was attracted to an inmate’s “big ass,” according to court documents obtained by ABC15.

When Avery arrived on the women’s side, he crept up behind a sleeping inmate and pulled down her pants – later admitting he planned to “rape” her, according to court documents.

However, he was arrested when another woman saw him and yelled, “Hey, get out of here,” court documents said.

Avery tried to silence the witness, but the explosion had already alerted the security guard, who called for backup.

He confessed during interviews and was charged with an additional count of sexual assault.

The disturbing incident in custody happened in April, but only came to light now after the footage was obtained through a records request, ABC15 said.

“We are appalled by the actions of inmate Avery,” the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told AZFamily.

“This was a unique incident and the first of its kind in four years since the (admission, transfer and discharge) facility opened.

“We responded immediately by adding mirrors for better monitoring in the identified blind spots. In addition, a review of our current procedures was carried out to ensure the implementation of best practices.”

Avery, who remains in custody, was “reclassified” because of “his institutional behavior,” the spokesman added.

He is expected in court on Tuesday.
