Third suspect charged in connection with 2023 Spruell Drive homicide

GAITHERSBURG, MD – A 22-year-old Gaithersburg man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Orlando Alexander Satz, Jr. in November 2023. The Montgomery County Police Department announced that Alonzo Jerome Lyles had been arrested. on September 25, 2024, following an investigation by major crimes detectives.

Satz, Jr., 20, was found with gunshot wounds after crashing his car on Spruell Drive on November 28, 2023. Responders initially arrived to help after the accident, but discovered the shooting had occurred before the ‘incident. Lyles now faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Two other suspects, De’shaun McCrimmon and Jose Ramon Ventura, had already been arrested. Ventura was taken into custody in June 2024 for helping transport the suspects the night of the shooting, while McCrimmon was charged with first-degree murder in August 2024. Both men are being held without bail as the matter is progressing.

    TRENTON, New Jersey – Gerard Artz, a 44-year-old construction company owner from Brick, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to failing to collect and remit employee taxes, United States Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced today . Artz entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Robert Kirsch in federal court in Trenton.

    Artz, who operated a construction business in Brick and New York, admitted that from 2016 to 2020 his company withheld employment taxes but failed to remit more than $938,000 to the IRS.

    Despite deducting taxes from its employees’ paychecks, the company failed to transfer the funds as required by law.

    The charges carry serious penalties, including up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Artz agreed to pay $937,943 in restitution as part of his plea deal. His sentencing is scheduled for February 5, 2024.

    The investigation was conducted by special agents of the IRS-Criminal Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Jenifer L. Piovesan, who worked to uncover the tax fraud.

    West View, Pa. – The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating an incident in which a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the area of ​​Perry Highway and Wellington Drive.

    At 7:54 p.m. Thursday, County 9-1-1 received a call reporting a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. Rescuers found a seriously injured adult man at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

    Preliminary findings indicate the 73-year-old man was walking southbound on Perry Highway and attempting to cross the road when he was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the incident.
