When a Morty falls, a Rick springs into action. Nothing bad could happen to the universe, right?

Our opinion

One of my main takeaways for Rick and Morty: the anime As we near the end, the emotional toll this series illustrates perhaps exceeds that of the OG series in many ways. Takashi Sono couples the serial elements of Rick and Morty: the anime with that of endearing characters who carry emotional weight instead of just being punching bags for Rick.

Maybe that’s the problem with Mullet Rick, he’s a different beast, just like Space Morty. But, to prove my point, Morty’s relationship with Elle may be one of my favorite character arcs of the entire year. Unlike the Jessica pattern from the OG series, Rick and Morty: the anime shows a Morty with far more love and compassion than lust and the results are far more rewarding when the climax of the entire season arrives.

Even the once criticized art direction helps to tone down the harshness of some of the choices these characters make, even the Gromflomites are much more interesting and varied and these guys are just meant to be side characters. In this series, while trying to accomplish their mission, the characters are more varied and identifiable, allowing viewers to build more effective relationships with them. So it means more when someone or something dies.

Takashi Sano pulls out all the stops Rick and Morty: The Anime. It could very well be that this is one of those series that, over time, will become more and more respected by new fans of the franchise, in the same way that fans of The devil may cry the series took to DmC.
