Nothing quite announces your arrival and departure like anti-theft sensors going off in every store you enter, and that’s exactly the situation one TikTok creator found herself in.

Arely (@arelyjanett) recently posted a video asking her viewers to help her figure out why her Coach bag was setting off alarms in every store she visited. Since then, his video has gone viral and has been viewed more than 504,000 times.

Arely begins her video by walking through a mall and approaching a store entrance to demonstrate her dilemma.

“So every time I walk into a store and it has security sensors, my purse beeps. I don’t know why. Literally, it’s so small I can’t really steal anything. So I’m not stealing, but look at this. Can anyone tell me why? she asked.

As she walks past the security sensors entering the store, alarms go off and sound in the background.

The video ends with the caption “Embarrassing” on screen.

Why do Coach bags set off store alarms?

This is not an isolated incident; there are other videos on TikTok noting similar experiences with Coach bags setting off store alarms. The culprit is often an inconspicuous security label. Typically small, black and made of plastic, the security tag can easily be slipped into a pocket or crevice of the bag or wallet, making it easy to ignore.

Commenters were clearly familiar with this issue. Many quickly came to Arely’s aid with a multitude of responses, all recommending the same solution. Find the safety label.

“Coaches purses do this too. LMAO was literally arrested by mall security it was so embarrassing but there’s a little tag in the purse!” it was said.

“There is a little pocket inside, you have to open it and remove the security tag that looks like the coach logo with a little metal thing on the back,” noted another comment.

“My man bought me a coach bag and this started happening. I literally found one of those (sensors) that beeps,” someone else advised.

In response, Arely said: “I found one in my purse, but I took it out to snooze and it still went off. »

“I throw away the security label”

In a follow-up video, Arely empties her purse to identify the source of the problem. At one point, she pulls out a rectangular black plastic label and wonders if that could be the source.

“It also had this (black safety tag) and I think that’s what might cause it to explode, but I took it off. Like I said, I went through the security alarms without all of that and it still went off,” she explained.

@arelyjanett We took everything out and it was still beeping #fyp #paratiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii #coach #purse ♬ Casual – Chappell Roan

The final confirmation came from a commenter who identified himself as a Coach employee: “Coach employee here! The black sensor you took out in the little pocket. Everything will be fine now. If you ever buy online, always check the pockets and throw them away. Nice Nolita bag!

Arely and Coach did not immediately respond to The Daily Dot’s request for comment.
