Suspected fatal hit-and-run in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Saturday

The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office says one person is dead after a suspicious hit-and-run that occurred Saturday morning in Stockbridge.

It happened around 6:44 a.m., when a passing motorist reported a person lying on the side of the road, about 4.1 miles from Route 102, officials said.

Authorities say when emergency responders arrived on scene, they spotted an unconscious man on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead a short time later by a Lee Ambulance paramedic.

Evidence collected so far, including parts of a car, has determined it may have been a hit-and-run, the prosecutor’s office said.

They said current evidence shows the victim was riding an electric scooter when she was struck by a motor vehicle and the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene.

Response to the incident included members of the Stockbridge Police Department, Stockbridge Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Lee Ambulance.
