How to Change AutoCorrect Language on an iPhone

Berlin (dpa) — If you quickly type a message on the go and rely on autocorrect, you can easily make mistakes, especially if the autocorrect does not match the language of the text. Fortunately, this is easy to edit on an iPhone.

Autocorrect is based on the keyboard language you set, but you can also enable other keyboard languages besides your native or default language. Then, when you use these other languages, autocorrect will recognize them and not change what you’re trying to type.

On an iPhone, go to Settings, then General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard. Select the one you want from the list. You will now be able to easily switch between your different keyboards.

As you type, a globe appears at the bottom left of the keyboard. Pressing it allows you to change the language used by the keyboard. If you hold the globe for an extended period of time, a list of all enabled keyboards is displayed. After the change, word suggestions and auto-correction adapt to the selected language.

Word suggestions and autocorrect should also adapt thanks to automatic language recognition even if you keep your default keyboard but type some words in another language, provided that language has been added to your enabled keyboards .
