North Platte Chamber announces Professional of the Year award recipient

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation’s annual award banquet is about a week away. Eric Seacrest, the executive director of the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, is being honored with the Professional of the Year award.

“It’s nice to be honored by a group that you have so much respect for. I’ve worked with the chamber for many decades, sharing the goals of economic development, improving the community in ways such as better housing, opportunities, better educations, providing all kinds of recreation projects, etcetera,” Seacrest said.

Seacrest has had a hand in multiple community efforts, and with the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, he served donors who seek to support a variety of nonprofit causes.

“We’ve been able to increase the number and amount of grants that we give to nonprofits in this region and the number of scholarships that we give to students. The region has been very charitable and helpful and generous and we have been fortunate to help lots of donors do what they want to do,” Seacrest said.

Seacrest is looking forward to the banquet next week where he can celebrate his award alongside many friends and colleagues.

“This is a lovely surprise, especially when it comes from my friends at the bedroom. They have a lot of people I respect who are working for the betterment of this region,” Seacrest said.

The banquet takes place at Venue 304 in North Platte on Thursday, Oct. 10.
