Tom Selleck does not hide his frustrations following the cancellation of the hit series Blue blood.

“I’m a little frustrated,” said the Magnum PI star, 79, said TV Insider during an interview on Thursday, October 3. “During these last eight concerts, I did not want to talk about the end for Blue blood but it is still a resounding success.

Selleck – who has starred in the detective series since 2010 – went on to explain that Blue blood ranked nine out of 100 in the Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024, only adding to his frustration and confusion.

“I’m not going to become a bitter old man who says, ‘Get off my lawn,’” he continued. “I don’t believe in hard feelings, but what if you said to the TV station, ‘Here’s a show you can schedule in the worst time slot you have, and it will guarantee you win Friday night for the next 15 hours. ‘ years,” it would be almost impossible to believe.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach confirmed that the network was canceling the show in May. This isn’t the first time Selleck has expressed displeasure with the decision to end the show. In a May interview with CBS News, the actor said he “would continue to think CBS would come to its senses.”

Obviously, the Quigley Down Under the star’s feelings have not changed.

By speaking to TV InsiderSelleck admitted that his “frustration” lies in the fact that “the show has always been taken for granted because it was played out from the start.”

“So how do I feel?” he continued. “It will take a long time to sort all this out. I remember after the weekend (of filming the last episode), I said, “I have to go to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.” Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take time.

Selleck plays New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in the police procedural, the monarch of the Reagan family who has a long history of service in law enforcement. The actor stars alongside Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan And Will Estes. In announcing the series’ cancellation, CBS confirmed that the final episodes would air this fall.

Following the announcement in May, the actor revealed that he may have to sell his 63-acre ranch in Ventura Country, California, following the series’ cancellation.

“You know, I hope I continue to work hard enough to keep my place,” he said. CBS Mornings. “If I stopped working, yes. Am I ready for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!

The last eight episodes of Blue blood will air on CBS in December.
