Man arrested after shootout with New Orleans police | Crime/Police

A man was arrested early Sunday morning after barricading himself in a Florida-area home and exchanging gunfire with police as they attempted to execute an arrest warrant, according to the police department from New Orleans.

Devin Green, 36, shot at officers shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday as they approached the door of a home in the 3100 block of North Tonti Street, according to police. After officers returned fire, police said Green retreated to his home and barricaded himself inside.

An NOPD crisis negotiation team attempted to contact Green for hours before he finally surrendered, police said.

Green was booked into the New Orleans jail on a charge of second-degree murder, police said. Other counts should follow.

Police did not immediately release more information.
