Four dead after car catches fire following crash in Thornton

THORNTON, Colo. (KKTV) – Four people were killed in a Denver suburb this weekend after being trapped in a burning car.

The fatal collision occurred Saturday evening at the intersection of Thornton Parkway and Washington Street in Thornton.

Sister station CBS Denver reports, citing Thornton police, that one vehicle struck another vehicle at the intersection, and the vehicle that was struck caught fire. The four occupants were unable to escape and all died on the spot.

The other driver was seriously injured and taken to hospital. Their conditions had not been released as of Monday morning.
