Person of interest taken into custody after house explosion in Piedmont

PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation is underway following a house explosion in Piedmont late Sunday night.

Officers said they were called to a home on Pine Drive for a house fire resulting from an explosion. Around 11 p.m., a 911 call came in claiming multiple people were trapped in the home.

Officials said when emergency crews and firefighters arrived, the fire had been extinguished and all residents had been located and were safe. One person was taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation and injuries.

According to officers, a person was found at the rear of the building with multiple injuries and taken to the hospital. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect is also wanted out of Simpsonville for attempted murder.
