Victim identified in Georgetown Co. shooting in the early morning

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Georgetown County coroner has named the victim of a fatal shooting over the weekend.

Javon Seward, 30, of Andrews, died in an incident. The coroner’s office has ruled a homicide. He was shot at the gas station and later died at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Hezekiah Wilson, 24, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime following a shooting that left a man dead early Sunday morning.

Officers say they found a man, now identified as Seward, suffering from a gunshot wound at Shaw’s Corner Store on Martin Luther King Drive around 1 a.m. He was pronounced dead at hospital shortly after 2am.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102.

Wilson was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.

Seward’s body will undergo an autopsy Wednesday at MUSC.
