Balasore (Odisha), Dec 3 (PTI) A local court in Balasore district on Tuesday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in 2022.
Special POCSO Judge Ranjan Kumar Sutar, relying on 22 witnesses and 40 pieces of evidence, convicted the 26-year-old accused along with a fine of Rs 6,000, said special prosecutor Pranab Kumar Panda.
In the absence of payment, the convict will have to undergo another two years in prison, he said.

According to the prosecutor, the case was reported from a village in the Simulia area, where the suspect abducted and raped the 16-year-old girl from her home on January 19, 2022.
