Georgian Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament invite domestic stakeholders to a “public discussion” on the government’s decision to suspend EU accession negotiations

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, together with Parliament Speaker Shalva Papushvili, invited domestic stakeholders on Tuesday for a “public discussion” on his government’s decision to suspend accession negotiations with the European Union until 2028. Wednesday.
“As the public is aware, we have repeatedly expressed our willingness to hold a public discussion with people protesting our team’s statement on November 28. (…) Former politicians Mikheil (Papuna) Janelidze (former Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Tinatin Khidasheli (former Minister of Defense) have already expressed interest in participating in such a public discussion,” he added.
Earlier today, Kobakhidze expressed his readiness for public discussion “on all topics,” including those related to “events of the past four years in the country.”
The statement comes amid ongoing public protests in the capital Tbilisi and other regions of the country against the suspension of accession negotiations.
