Star says he was “so scared” during the relapse

Jack Vidgen has told fans he is ‘not okay’ because he is undergoing treatment addiction.

The 27-year-old singer and social media influencer made the brave admission via Instagram, sharing how he was “terrified” of judgment over his ongoing battle.

This is the fourth time in four years that he has gone to rehab.

“I’m terrified of what people will think, what they will say or whisper to each other when I pass them on the street,” he wrote.

Alongside a photo of himself in bed at an undisclosed treatment center, he added: “I’ve been so afraid for years of this thing that lives inside me that is my addiction.”

Vidgen, who became famous at the age of 14 Australia’s Got Talent in 2011assured fans, “This is not a tell-all post because I’m nowhere near the space to do that yet.”

Instead, he said he “just wanted to let you in and let you know I’m not doing well.”

“For years I’ve heard the saying, ‘It’s okay not to be okay,’ but I’ve never really known what that means,” he added.

“I feel like I kind of understand it now,” he continued, explaining that he struggled with a five-week relapse where he “couldn’t come up.”

Before entering rehab on Oct. 21, Vidgen said he had been completely clean for four months. His longest period of complete sobriety in the past four years was six months.

As for whether anything caused his most recent relapse, the star wondered if stress such as the death of a close friend and also a family member contributed to it.

Vidgen: ‘I’m sure there will be a fight’

In a very honest admission, Vidgen suggested the revealing post would be a detriment to his career, but assured fans he would now put his health above everything else.

“I’m sure there will be consequences when it comes to working with brands, appearances and other career-related matters,” he wrote.

“To be completely honest, that’s why I didn’t make a post like this so quickly.”

He added that he was “past the point of things being more important to me than my mental health and being honest about where I am”.

He also thanked the “angels” in his life who were there for him every step of the way, and assured anyone suffering from addiction or mental health issues that he or she is not alone.

Vidgen has always been open about his struggles with addiction and mental health.

After a match The Masked Singer in 2021, the star sat down WHO to talk about his new music. At the time, he had just released a new single inspired by his substance abuse.

“My new song ‘Goodbye’ it is bittersweet because it reflects on a dark time in my life,” he said at the time.

“The song is about my years of substance abuse, but at the same time there’s a positivity to it because I’m on the other side and I’m in a really good place now,” he said, at a time when he’d also completed his first rehab stay .

He added: “If I can help at least one person, then I’m happy.”
