Mother killed in triple shooting in Grand Rapids identified

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A mother killed last week in a shooting that also injured two of her sons has been identified.

Tracey Broyles, 55, died in the shooting Thursday on Pastiche Drive just off Eastern Avenue in Grand Rapids.

She and her two adult sons were shot before 7 p.m. on October 24. The two men were hospitalized but expected to survive.

Chief Eric Winstrom told FOX 17 neighbors reported an altercation had occurred nearby. He also says there were many shell casings at the scene, indicating more than one weapon may have been involved.

“I believe that these individuals were targeted, that they were known to the perpetrator in this case,” Winstrom said. “It sounds like if we have the full story, there’s no reason why it should have ended in gunfire, let alone a murder and the shooting of multiple people.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting so far.

Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact investigators at 616-456-3380 or Silent observer at 616-774-2345.
