Leah Harrison: HSE leading investigation into landslide death

An investigation into how a 10-year-old girl was killed by a landslide during a school trip has been taken over by the national workplace health and safety regulator.

Leah Harrison, a Year 6 pupil at Mount Pleasant Primary School in Darlington, was taking part in a residential school trip, at Carlton Adventure, in Carlton-in-Cleveland, when the tragedy occurred in May.

The incident happened during one of the center’s instructor-led forest walks at a time when weather warnings were in effect.

The site is operated by Hartlepool Council. The council has been approached for comment.
