Good morning Great BritainSusanna Reid was left shocked after Richard Madeley made an inappropriate comment about the Strictly Come Dancing fiasco.

This morning, the ITV program aired a report on a professional dancer Katya Jones’ indignation at seeing Wynne Evans ‘portrayed as someone he is not’ after she appeared to forcibly remove his hand from her waist on the BBC show.

The Russian dancer, 35, explained on It Takes Two that the viral ‘hand incident’ was nothing more than a ‘very silly joke’ between her and the Welsh actor and opera singer, 52.

On GMB, after senior correspondent Jonathan Swain mentioned that Strictly’s catchphrase is “keep groping”, Richard commented: ‘Do you think they’ll change the line to “keep groping”?’

Almost speechless, and Susanna, 53, unimpressed, awkwardly replied: ‘Mmm.’

Richard, 68, added: ‘A possibility? Jokingly, of course.

Ignoring Richard’s comment, Susanna continued the conversation by saying, “Look, you have to take their word for it, don’t you?”

On X, Richard’s ‘joke’ sparked outrage among Good Morning Britain viewers, who called it ‘tone-deaf’.

@ahsley_lovell28 fumed: ‘@GMB why do you employ idiot @richardmadeley1 – tone deaf ‘joke.’ So strange. Read Roommate. #alanpartridge #Strictly #gmb

Echoing her sentiment, @KirstyJ80 fumed: “What a totally inappropriate comment from Madeley on the strictly (not) #gmb story.”

@Iain_McCallum said: ‘Richard Madeley’s inappropriate comment “Keep Groping” in response to the @bbcstrictly story was so out of order and juvenile. I hope he got yelled at by the gallery director!

@laird01554927 also added: ‘Richard making jokes about groping FFS. #GMB.’

Earlier this week, Wynne also addressed the viral “hand incident” and said she was “heartbroken” by the fallout.

He told BBC Radio Wales: ‘I am absolutely devastated by the things that have been written about me in the last few days.’

Wynne also reiterated that the incident was a “bad joke” between the two – with Katya also describing the allegations of wrongdoing as “utter nonsense”.

However, the damage may already have been done, as oddsmakers now predict that Wynne is in danger of being eliminated this weekend.

Assessing his chances for this weekend’s show, bookmakers Betfred revealed how Wynne’s elimination odds have increased – putting him just behind former footballer and commentator Paul Merson, 56.

Sunday night’s episode saw TV handyman Nick Knowles eliminated after a dance-off against Shayne Ward.
