Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers triumphed over Daniel Jones and the New York Giants on Monday night, winning by a score of 26-18.

After mixed reactions to the announcement that Wilson would be the starter in Week 7, taking over for Justin Fields, fans have fully embraced head coach Mike Tomlin’s decision, especially after Wilson’s impressive performance on Monday.

Led by Wilson’s performance, the Steelers improved to 6-2 on the season, while the Giants fell to 2-6, extending their losing streak to three straight games.

Wilson completed 20 of 28 passes for 278 yards, with one touchdown and one fumble. Wide receiver Calvin Austin III contributed with three receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, Jones completed 24 of 38 passes for 264 yards, with one interception and one fumble.

Sports Illustrated reports this Albert Breerthose close to the Steelers organization believed that Tomlin’s decision to move on from Fields was not the right one.

“Most people in that building thought Justin Fields gave them the best chance to win. That’s probably still the case,” Breer wrote. “The problem was that if the Steelers stuck with Fields, that might have been the case for Wilson as a Steeler.”

Those who didn’t believe Wilson could still deliver vintage Seattle performances will certainly change their minds after tonight’s win.

Fans flooded social media after the game to celebrate Wilson and Tomlin, as the two have led the team to a three-game win streak.

It’s so great that Russell Wilson is having success in Pittsburgh. Had. An off-season conversation with him that lasted hours. The way he spoke to me let me know that his confidence had not disappeared and that his faith in God’s plan for his love had not wavered. So happy for him.

The Steelers are heading into a bye week, but will prepare to extend their win streak to four against the Washington Commanders on the road in Week 10.
