Victim fights off armed suspects in harrowing encounter in Northwest DC


Washington, D.C. – A shooting in Northwest DC has prompted a request for public assistance in identifying the suspects involved.

On October 11, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the suspects approached a victim in the block of Banner Lane Unit, Northwest. One of the suspects brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s property. During a fight, the suspect shot the victim, grazing him, but the suspects fled without taking anything. The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspects, which may assist in the investigation.

Anyone who can identify the suspects or have information about the incident is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.

  • Henderson County opens disaster recovery center

    Hendersonville, NC – Henderson County announced the establishment of a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to assist residents affected by Hurricane Helene. The center is located at 2111 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28791.

    DRC will begin operations on Wednesday, opening its doors from 1pm to 7pm. From Thursday onwards, the center will be open daily from 8am to 7pm.

    The center aims to provide assistance using federal, state and local resources. Residents will be able to request assistance from FEMA through this resource.

    This initiative is part of the county’s efforts to support the community’s recovery from the damage inflicted by the hurricane.

  • Domestic assault incident reported at Mayflower Crossing Apartments

    **Wilkes-Barre, PA** – Wilkes-Barre Municipal Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at Mayflower Crossing Apartments on October 14 at 4:06 am.

    Officers who arrived at the scene contacted the victim, a 23-year-old Wilkes-Barre resident. She informed officers of a verbal altercation with Hanee Brinson, a 23-year-old from Nanticoke.

    During the dispute, Brinson allegedly struck the victim several times and threatened him with a knife. The victim managed to escape and called 911.

    Brinson was taken into custody and transported to city headquarters. He is now awaiting processing and arraignment.
