Georgia Democratic leader resigns after arrest for removing Trump campaign signs


In a surprising turn of events, Lowell Simon, chairman of the Democratic Party in Moore County, Georgia, resigned following his arrest for removing Trump 2024 campaign signs. Simon, who was also a candidate for the state House, was observed by a Moore County sheriff’s deputy taking down signs along Seven Lakes Drive late Thursday afternoon.

The deputy, who was responding to an unrelated call, noticed Simon removing the signs around 5:25 p.m. and later followed him to his residence. The plates were discovered in Simon’s vehicle and, when confronted, he admitted taking them. In a statement, Simon expressed regret for his actions, stating: “My worst angels got the better of me and I removed the signs. I shouldn’t have done that.”

The Moore County Democratic Party was quick to create distance between themselves and Simon.

Mr. Simon issued an apology for his actions as well as his resignation, both of which were accepted by MCDP.

  • 19-Year-Old Shot and Killed Friday Night in Jersey City

    Jersey City, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, in collaboration with the Jersey City Police Department, is investigating a fatal shooting in Jersey City. The incident occurred on Friday, October 11th.

    Officers were alerted to shots fired near Garfield Avenue and Brown Place shortly before 5 p.m. The victim, 19-year-old Kashyne Grant, was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body and transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead just after 10 a.m. on Monday, October 14.

    Investigations by law enforcement authorities are ongoing. The cause and manner of death are awaiting results from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

  • Police issue trespassing citation in Cumberland

    Cumberland, MD- The Cumberland Police Department addressed a breaking and entering incident on Monday. At 9:20 a.m., an officer on routine patrol on E. Harrison Street encountered an individual on the CSX property.

    The property was marked with “NO ENTRY” signs. The officer identified the individual as Asaad Mikhail Raymond.

    Raymond, 22, was informed of his trespassing violation. He was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial in District Court.

    The charge issued was for posted trespassing. Raymond is a resident of Cumberland, Maryland.
