Romantic triangle leads to daylight shooting and death of woman in Millville

A Vineland woman was shot to death in Millville during a daylight attack involving an apparent romantic triangle, authorities said.

Bonnie Hitchens, 41, of Bridgeton was attacked Saturday morning while sitting in a vehicle outside a convenience store and laundromat on East Green Street, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. A 32-year-old Millville man in the vehicle was also injured in the 10:40 a.m. shooting. He was reported in stable condition at an area hospital.

Two Vineland residents – Eric Bundy-Johnson and Francessca Delvalle, both 34 – are charged with the murder.

They were in a vehicle driving next to the victims, and Delvalle was recorded shouting an accusation at Hitchens involving the father of Delvalle’s child, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A masked man then exited Delvalle’s car, walked up to the driver’s side of the suspects’ vehicle where Hitchens was sitting, and fired four shots.

Delvalle also walked to the driver’s side of Hitchens’ vehicle and observed the shooting, the affidavit said.

Surveillance video identified the car’s registration, leading investigators to Delvalle on Sunday, October 27.

Police: Suspects are talking

Delvalle identified Bundy-Johnson, the father of her child, as the shooter. Delvalle also claimed that she tried to persuade him not to attack Hitchens.

Bundy-Johnson, who surrendered separately to police, said that “he blacked out and shot (the victims) because he felt like people were constantly trying to finesse him,” the statement said.

Bundy-Johnson and Delvalle, who share an Axtell Avenue address, are charged with murder and conspiracy.

Bundy-Johnson is also charged with criminal attempt and weapons offenses. Delvalle faces additional charges of obstruction and tampering.

The accusations are just accusations. No one has been convicted in the case.
