Pedestrian seriously injured in accident in Surrey

Mounties in Surrey say a driver who struck a pedestrian Monday evening is believed to be under the influence of alcohol.

According to police, the pedestrian was struck by an Audi Q3 SUV near 188 Street and 60 Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

The male victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The driver was arrested for dangerous conduct causing bodily harm and was banned from driving for 24 hours,” the Surrey RCMP wrote in a news release Tuesday. “The driver was later released without charge pending further investigation and their vehicle was seized.”

Police asked anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam video to call the detachment at 604-599-0502 with reference file number 2024-160816.
