Oregon Ducks ‘have a lot of confidence’ in Wide Receiver Justius Lowe

Oregon ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel has a whole range of weapons at his disposal on offense during his first season in Eugene, a big reason why he led his team to the top Number 1 in the AP Poll went into November.

Including curators Evan Stewart, Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden tight end Terrance With Ferguson being the best pass catcher in Oregon’s offense, defenses have plenty to answer for. Add running backs Jordan James And Noah Whittington and that is clear the Ducks have assembled a nightmarish offensive staff in their quest for a College Football Playoff National Championship.

However, on a talented depth chart, other notable faces have been lost in the mix, Oregon coach Dan Lanning making sure no one goes unnoticed. While speaking to the media Monday, he had high praise for wide receiver Justius Lowe, who caught his first career touchdown in Saturday’s win over the Illinois Fighting Illini.

“I’m especially proud of Justius. When he first came here he suffered a number of injuries, which somewhat limited his ability to be on the field,” Lanning said. “We always felt like if he was a guy that was available, he’d be a guy that could make an impact. And I think he probably had a little chip on his shoulder because you realize, ‘Hey, I’m been unavailable,” and he plays tough, right?

“He’s become one of our best blockers in that room, but he also runs very precise routes. He’s a guy that you can put in any position and trust him to do his job. So again, I think he has stepped up and grown every year, every week, and become one of the guys we all have a lot of confidence in when he’s on the field,” Lanning continued.

Lowe has dealt with injuries during his time in Eugene after arriving as a member of the 2022 recruiting class, but his patience is paying off. He finished with two catches for 51 yards and a score of 34 yards in what was by far the best game of his collegiate career. So far this season, he has eight catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.

While Johnson has established himself as Oregon’s No. 1 receiver, Lowe will look to play a key role for the Ducks in the latter part of the regular season, including in Saturday’s game in Ann Arbor against the Michigan Glutton.
